Britney Spears? Rep: Beating Tape is ?So Obviously Fake?

Commenting further on a just-released recording allegedly of Britney Spears claiming to have been beaten by boyfriend Jason Trawick, the singer's rep has expanded on initial denials of the tape recorded conversation's legitimacy.

The "Gimme More" hitmaker's camp dubbed the Star magazine recording as "so obviously fake as to be laughable" in a statement to TMZ, adding, "Suffice it to say, Jason Trawick has never laid a hand on Britney."

Quite upset over the false claims, Britney's people added, "This is just another example of the irresponsible nature of the tabloid media relying on shoddy sources and false information for the sole purpose of selling magazines, without regard to the truth and without regard to who they hurt in the process."

Noting that the Spears team informed Star that they had bogus material prior to the mag's release, the rep continues, "The statements attributed to Jason Alexander are a complete fabrication as Britney has not had any form of communication with Mr. Alexander in years. These irresponsible statements are defamatory and Britney Spears' legal team will be taking legal action against all of the appropriate parties."
